Tolentino and Dan Brown both have a point but I would have to side with Dan Brown on this one. I like that the novelist ends his letter with ‘Mahirap bang intindihin ‘yon?’ because honestly, mahirap nga bang intindihin ‘yon? If people are so defensive about it then maybe, just maybe, they understand that there is some truth  to the description. We have to understand that it’s all about perspective as well. It’s very relative to the world we belong in. While some may believe that Manila is a lovely home, some may think of it as exactly what Dan Brown describes it, the gates of hell. Sometimes we can be so preoccupied with the network of connections we live in that we forget  a majority of Filipinos live below the poverty line and earn less than the prescribed minimum wage. To add, why is it that Bourne Legacy was received mainly positively when it clearly showed the poverty in Manila? Was it because the directors and producers showcased Palawan in the end? </p> <p>Anyway, getting back to the point. The point is Inferno is fiction. It had a disclaimer so that everyone will know and hopefully understand that the work is a work of imagination… unless you skipped that part. If anything, it’s publicity. It may be bad publicity but as they say, bad publicity is still publicity. Work with it. </p> <p>It’s like Da Vinci Code all over again.
